This Month at Home

I used to write a column entitled This Month at Home for the magazine I published some years back, Gentle Spirit. As it turned out, it was one of the most popular features of the magazine. There was where I talked about the state of my homestead (or small farm, depending what year), how the sheep and chickens were doing, garden updates, what we were doing unschooling- or homeschooling-wise (again, depending on the year), how the children were doing, things that were bothering me, events I'd been thinking about, political issues of concern to homeschoolers, homesteaders, breastfeeding moms, large families, my pregnancies, if I was pregnant that year, recipes I'd discovered, craft ideas, interesting tidbits of information about the weather or herbal remedies or holidays.

I started this blog a while back intending it to be sort of a revived This Month at Home, a place where I could connect with the women in my old world, old friends, new friends, too, around all of these everyday things that still interest me. These days my feminist activism and writing consume a lot of my time, but especially during certain times of the year, fall, spring, I get a longing to connect with people I've lost touch with over the last 10 years. And, too, there are things I feel like writing about sometimes that don't really fit on my other blog or on my Women's Space website or my Coalition of Independent Homeschoolers/Independent Homeschooling Institute website.

So, this will be my bloggy equivalent of This Month at Home. I hope all of my worlds can mingle here and I'll be able to connect with old friends I still think about, wonder about.
